Barbee, Lunce / Lunsford, Edmunds, Merrill I am looking for help finding my father's ancestors. My paternal grandfather Fred Elmore Lunce (b. 3 June 1905, Mt. Horeb, d. 22 Mar 1995); his parents were Jacob Leonard "Jake L." Lunce (perhaps Lunsford, b. 26 Jun 1879, d. 28 Jan 1956) and Margaret Elizabeth Edmunds (b. 20 Oct. 1881, d. 8 Feb 1957). Margaret E. Edmunds parents were Tom Moire and Tennessee Woods. Jacob Lunce's mother was Amanda Merrill (b. 1840?) and, probably, Emery Lunsford. Fred E. Lunce married 4 times, his first wife was my grandmother Geneva Barbee (b. 10 Nov 1911, d. 18 Sep 29). Her parents were Harvey K. Barbee (b. 9 Sep 1867) and Louisia C. Barbee, maiden name unknown (b. 29 May 1876, d 7 Jun 1953).

Harvey Roddy Thu Aug 28 17:37:30 1997
Roddy, Russell, Martin, Boulton Does anyone have any record of Harvey RODDY and Isaac RODDY? Isaac RODDY was the son of Col. James RODDY and Lydia Russell RODDY, born 1790 or 92 in Jefferson County. He married Mary MARTIN April 19, 1821 in Jefferson County. Harvey RODDY is believed to be Isaac's son but I can't find any record of his having a child by the name of Harvey. Harvey RODDY married Martha Jane Boulton 1838 in Rhea County. Could Harvey be the son of Isaac's brother William (not traced) or maybe a half brother, since Col. James Roddy was married twice. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ryan, Williams I am seeking George A. RYAN (1827-1889 or 1826-1886), who came from Nelson Co., VA, sometime around 1858-59. George married Lucinda Fortune in Nelson Co., and remained married until her death in 1856. Afterward, he married Margaret WILLIAMS (1846-1901). George abandoned his first family when the children were infants (1858-59). He apparently lived in the Jefferson City area and had more children. George shows up with his son, William H. (b. 1854), in the 1870 census for Grainger County. George is listed as married to Margaret in the 1880 census, and they are buried at the Bean Station Baptist Church Cemetery. George was a tailor and sold groceries. Why is this person significant? George was the father of Thomas Fortune Ryan (1851-1928), one of the 10 richest men in the world at the turn of the century! I am doing the Fortune family tree and need to know what happened to him after he abandoned his wife and children in Virginia.

Boone, Bryan, Lockart, Breeden, Jackson I have recently learned that I am descended from Daniel Boone's sister, Mary Boone Bryan. Their daughter married a Lockart whose daughter Sarah married Richard Breeden, who is my ggg-gf. Richard and his son John were both born in Jefferson County, TN. Richard served with Andrew Jackson in the War of 1812. Is there a genealogical study of Daniel Boone's clan out there I can procure somewhere? I would also like to know if the Bryan clan Mary Boone married into is related to William Jennings Bryan the famous orator. If anyone recognizes any names in the above, please email me.

Robinson, Williams, Campbell, Hash, Howell Searching for John ROBINSON, b. abt 1820, d. bef 1860, married Nancy WILLIAMS, b. Apr. 27, 1822 , died June 11, 1902, daughter of John and Ruth WILLIAMS. Son named John Harlow ROBINSON married Tabitha CAMPBELL. Their daughter, Nancy Miranda ROBINSON (b. 1839, Hawkins County, TN; died April 16, 1916, Corbin, Whitley County, KY), was my great- great-grandmother. My grandmother died 23 Dec. 1996. Miranda also known by Nancy. She married Eli HOWELL, March 1, 1856, in Jefferson County, TN. Son Robert HOWELL (b. ca. 1856). Howell marriage did not last long [no divorce record found to date ]. Nov. 29, 1858, in Grainger County, TN., Nancy married my G/G grandad, Duncan HASH [1838/40 -1900/10], who had just ended a brief marriage himself, in Whitley Co., KY! Son (my great-grandad) John HASH [b. 1859, Grainger Co., TN, d. 1935]. Hashes separated in the last years, but both buried in Corbin, Ky. On 1860 Knox Co., KY, census. After 1860, Howell child is not found. Nancy may have been hiding her 1st child from Eli Howell, who later "collected" his son. My grandmother's older brother told me of a trip to Morristown, Tn., area as a very young man. His father introduced him to a "uncle he had never heard of before"! Uncle was involved in some sort of wood business; possibly "missing child" Robert Howell? My great-uncle could not remember any more about meeting. Nancy Miranda ROBINSON HOWELL HASH had 11 more children with 2nd husband, most of whom migrated to Eureka, California, in early 1900's. I seek any leads on this family and will share all I have. Lovelady, Wood, Davis LOVELADY-Seek information on descendants of Jesse LOVELADY of Jackson and Overton Counties, who was the son of Marshall and Hannah LOVELADY of Jefferson Co., where Marshall's will was proven in January 1793. Jesse LOVELADY removed from East Tennessee to Jackson Co. by 1802, when he appeared on a tax list. Then by 1810, he was in Overton Co., where he bought from Nathan WOOD (of White Co.) 100 acres on the north side of Spring Creek, formerly called west ford [fork?] of Roaring River, with a mention of LOVELADY'S Spring Branch, near William DAVIS' Spring Branch. The land was registered in Overton Co. on 6 March 1810. Then on 12 June 1810,in Overton Co., Jesse LOVELADY signed an affidavit, saying he was a legal heir of Marshall LOVELADY. Was Polly LOVELADY, listed on the 1836 Overton Co. tax list, the widow of Jesse? I am searching for names of Jesse's wife, children, and other descendants.

Furgerson / Ferguson / Fergason, Bruce Seek info on my ggrandparents, John Wesley FURGERSON (FERGUSON, FERGASON, etc.) and Mahuldia BRUCE FURGERSON. Census records in Hopkins Co., Ky., indicate they were born in Tennessee. John was born on January 15, 1814, and Mahuldia on September 10, 1815. Their first child was born on November 15, 1840, so they were probably married sometime around 1838-39. They apparently left Tennessee between 1851 and 1854, when their 5th and 6th children were born. The 1840 Jefferson County census lists a William Furgerson and a Jaes. S. Bruce living in near proximity. Were John and Mahuldia part of those families?

Jacks, Irwin, Eckel Richard JACKS, Jr., was born in Surry Co., NC 31 Jully 1831. He married Sarah DAY 29 Sep 1794. He and his family moved from NC to Jefferson Co., TN, arriving 17 Mar 1819 where he lived until his death, 31 Jul 1831. Just prior to his death he had made a sale of his property preparatory to moving to IN. Two of his sons, Reuben and Palemon had married sisters, Hannah and Jane IRWIN (IRVIN?). in Jefferson Co. but had moved on to IN before their father's death. Because Reuben had a son he named Samuel ECKEL, my great-grandfather, and because I have been told Richard was buried in the ECKEL cemetery in White Pine, TN, I feel it is likely that is the maternal line the IRWIN girls. I would like to correspond with anyone with information regarding these families.
