January 1st 1825 - No meeting on the account of bad weather. February 5th 1825 - The Church met & after worship proceeded to Business. March 5th 1825 - The Church met & after worship proceeded to business - 1st. - took up a former deference concerning Joseph Bell for leaving the Church without getting a letter and not returning - therefore it is concidered by this Church that he be excommunicated from the fellowship of this Church. - 2nd. - Br. Joshua Newman Requested a letter of dismission and granted. April 1st 1825 - The Church met & after worship proceeded to business - 1st. - the Church took a motion concerning Br. Willis Hammons for joining the free mason's and the Church says he must leave them or the Church. (p.87) - 2nd. - Sr. Sarah Ledbetter was Rec'd by letter. May 7th 1825 - The Church met and no business & rec'd the Minutes of the Houlston Association. June 4th 1825 - The Church met & no business. July 3rd 1825 - The Church met and after worship Proceeded to business - 1st. Rec'd Mary Cate Jr. by experience. July 16th 1825 - The Church convened together & Sr. Sally Sellers requested a letter of dismission & granted. August 6th 1825 - The Church met & after Service proceeded and no business then dismisssed. September 3rd 1825 - The Church met & after Worship proceeded to business - 1st. - took up a grievance against Sr. Nancy Cate for offering to Swar the rape against Dennis Hester and giving him a good name after the offence should have been attempted also for drinking too much Spirituous liquor and the Church proceeds to lay her under censure & appoints Bro. Chas. Kelly & Noah Cate to cite her to our next meeting which will be in Nov. - 2nd. - Sr. Ledbetter (Bettis) requested a letter of dismission and granted - 3rd. - Appoint Br. H. Mount & Elisha Cate to attend our next Association - 4th. - Appointed Br. John Cate, Thos. Jones, Joseph Sullins, John Elder, R. M. Newman, Noah Cate, Isaac Newman and Elisha Cate to visit the Arm on next fryday and to do what they can as the boddy of their Church concerning Br. Willis Hammons for joining the Masonick order. October, 1825 - meeting was omitted on the account of the Association coming at the same time. November 5th 1825 - The Church met & after Worship proceeded to Business - 1st. - took up deference of Sept. meeting (p.88) concerning Sr. Nancy Cate and it appears to the Church that she is not able to attend and laid over till next meeting - 2nd. - took up the cause against Br. Hammons & called for the report of the Brn. that attend the Arm & they say that Br. Hammons refuseth to make any satisfactory acknowlegments, therefore the Church proceeded to lay him under censure. November 12th 1825 - Dumplin Creek Church taking up a greivance against Br. Willis Hammons for adjoining himself to the Masonic Order of people & after much labour and time spent with him on that subject the Church could git no farther recantation form him on that subject than to say he would forsake them as far as was necessary & when it was necessary he would be at liberty to attend the Church, not knowing what bounds those necessary calls might extend to, proceeded to exclude him from the Church. December 3rd 1825 - The Church met & after Worship proceeded to business - 1st. - took up the matter concerning Sr. Nancy Cate and after some investigation it was laid over till next meeting - 2nd. - Appoints Br. Thomas Jones to demand & receive Willis Hammons credentials - 4th. - Br. Isaac Newman Sr. Requested a letter of Dismission for himself and wife and for Br. R. M. Newman and his wife and granted. January 7th 1826 - The Church met & after Worship proceeded to Business - 1st. - took up the matter concerning Sister Nancy Cate and she failed to attend and the Church proceeds to exclude her from the Church. February 4th 1826 - The Church met & no business done. March 4th 1826 - The Church met & after worship proceeded to business - 1st. - Rec'd Oby Gibbs by letter. (p.89) March 31st 1826 - The Church met & after Service proceeded to business - 1st. - Appointed Brn. Elisha Cate, Noah Cate & Oby Gibbs to attend our next Union meeting at the fork of Pigeon. [Months Omitted from WPA Transcript???] August 5th 1826 - The Church met & after worship proceeded to business - 1st. - Rec'd Anderson Skeine & Judith Skein his wife by letter. September 1st 1826 - The Church met & after worship proceeded to business - 1st. - took up the matter concerning Sister Manard and proceeded to excommunicate her from the Church for not having heard the Church - 2nd - Took up the cause Br. John Cate and wife and after some considerable investigation the Church excludes them from the Church in the case of Lily Manard. October, 1826 - meeting was omitted on account of the Association. (p.90) November 4th 1826 - The Church met & after worship proceeded to business - 1st. - Rebecca Elder requested a letter of Dismission and granted - 2nd. - the Church agrees to take deed of conveyance of John Cate Jr. For the lot of Land once surveyed for the uses of Dumplin Church so long as the Church may stand and for no other use nor to any individual. December 2nd 1826 - The Church met & no business and dismissed. January 6th 1827 - The Church met & after divine Service nothing done & dismissed. February 3rd 1827 - The Church met & no business done & dismissed. March 3rd 1827 - The Church met & no business then Dismissed. April 6th 1827 - The Church met & after worship proceeded to business - 1st. - proceeded to exclude Polly Cate from the fellowship of the Church for having committed fornication - 2nd. - Appointed Brn. John Elder, Obediah Gibbs & Noah Cate to attend the Bethel meeting to be held on the 4th Saturday this instant to help settle some matter. May 5th 1827 - The Church met & after divine Service proceeded to business - 1st. - Rec'd Clemmons Sanders in the Church by experience. June 2nd 1827 - The Church met & after worship proceeded to business - 1st. - the Church makes choice of Br. Joseph Sullins for deacon and the (p.91) Church Petition that Brn. Richard Wood and Elijah Rogers to attend our August meeting to help in the ordination of Br. Sullins for deacon - 4th. - Br. Noah Cate liberated to exercise his gift in publick anywhere in the bounds of his aquantance. July 7th 1827 - The Church met and after divine Servis proceeded to business - 1st. - Appoints Brn. Noah Cate, John Elder & Obediah Gibbs to attend the Union meeting to be held at Boyd's Creek meeting house commencing on fryday before the 4th Saturday in this instant & also to call on Brn. Woods and Rogers to assist us in the ordination of a deacon at our next meeting in Course. August 4th 1827 - The Church met & after divine Service proceeded to business - 1st. - the Arm of this Church informs in by her Messengers Brn. ________ that they or she wish to be established a Church in this Union - therefore the Church agrees that it be so if upon a legal examination it should appear to be proper - 2nd. - Proceds to the ordination of Br. Sullins as deacon - Br. Rogers being present one of the presbitary Called for to help in the case and Br. Wood not present then the duty attended to by Brn. Kimbrough, Rogers & Lockhert &c. August 31st 1827 - The Church met on fryday it being the Communion Season & proceeded to business - 1st. - Red the Church Covinent also the Circular annexed to the Minutes of our Association of 1825 - 2nd. - Anext the aforesaid Circular to our Church (p.92) Covenant - 3rd. - Appoints Br. Obediah Gibbs & Noah Cates members to our next Association to be held at the East fork of Poplar Creek meeting house to commence on fryday before the first Saturday in Oct. next - Anderson County - 4th. - Rec'd Moses French by experience - 5th. - Rec'd Elvin Joiner by experience. September 29th 1827 - The Church met on Saturday before meeting in Course & after divine Service proceeded to business - 1st. - Rec'd Salley otherwise Saraha French, Elijah Cate, _____ Carmon & Shadrach Manard by experience. November 3rd 1827 - The Church met & after Service proceed to business - 1st. - Rec'd the Minutes of the Highwassa Association for the year 1820 - 2nd. - Rec'd Jesse Mills, James G. Newman, Elizabeth Baker, Mary Underwood & Thomas Kelly by exp. - 3rd. - Charles Kelly & wife requested letters of dismission and granted. December 1st 1827 - The Church met & after divine Service proceded to business - 1st. - Rec'd Newman's Black woman Betty by experience - 2nd. - Rec'd Anna Henry by letter. |
