January 4th 1840 - On account of the inclemency of the wether our pastor did not attend and but few members - nothing done and after prayer dismissed. E. Cate - Clk. February 1st 1840 - the Church met and after divine Service proceeded to business - 1st. - Resolved that our next Sacramental meeting commence on fryday before the 1st. in May next and invite the following Ministers Viz. Bro. Rogers, Tipton, Belew, Burnett, Cannon, R. Kimbrough, Rev. Duke Kimbrough, Wm. Cate & L. Jones with a view to hold a protracted meeting of God in his providence will admit - 2nd. - Ordered by the Church that the Clerk write a few lines to the above Brn. E. Cate - Clk. March, 1840 - meeting passed off without anything being done in a Church way. E. Cate - Clk. April 4th 1840 - the Church met & after worship proceeded to business - 1st. - appointed Elisha Cate Moderator on account of our Moderator being absent. (p.139) - 2nd. - Whereas divers Slanderous reports had got out against Br. John Sellers & he the sd. Sellers being present & wished to be heard and after being heard the Church acquits him. May 1st 1840 - The Church met on fryday it being Sacrament & after divine Service proceeded to 1st a complaint being taken up against Br. John Pain by the Church for drinking too much Spirits & appointed Br. Wesley Davis to cite him to our next meeting - 2nd. - Rec'd Jesse Langston by experence. E. Cate - Clk. June 6th 1840 - The Church met & after divine Service proceeded to business - 1st. - took up the reference of last meeting concerning Br. John Pain and he being present confest his fault and said that he was sorry and hoped that the Lord had forgive him and the Church also forgive him. E. Cate - Clk. July 4th 1840 - The Church met & after divine Service Dismissed & on Sunday opened the door for the reception of members & Rec'd Susan Lyle & Mary E. Cate by experience - E. Cate - Clk. August 1st 1840 - The Church met and after divine Service proceeded to business. - 1st. - opened a door for the reception of of members & Rec'd Thomas Langston & wife Louiza by letter - 2nd. - the Church agreed to represent herself in the Convention to be held at Cederford Church, Grainger County, Tennessee. (p.140) And appointed Br. John Douglass, John Sellers & Charles Elder our deligates to the same & sent a donation of $5.18 - 3rd. - appointed Br. Thomas Bryan & Hugh V. Hoozer - our deligates to our next Association to be held with the Church at Third Creek meeting house, Knox County, Tennessee. E. Cate - Clk. September 29th 1840 - The Church met & after divine Service proceeded to business - 1st. - opened a door for the reception of Members - 2nd. - the letter to the Association read & received - 3rd. - Appointed Br. Jesse Langston also as a deligate to the Assn. - 4th. - Ordered by the Church that Elder James Cannon, Tipton & Lonas be invited by a few lines by the Clerk to attend a protracted meeting to commence on fryday before 3rd. Saturday in October next - to Elizabeth & John W. Davis & John Pain & wife Mary requested letters of dismission & granted. E. Cate - Clk. October 3rd 1840 - The Church met - nothing done & on Sunday rec'd by expr. Elizabeth Thompson. E. Cate - Clk. October 16th 1840 - The Church met at a protracted meeting and at sd. Meeting Rec'd Nancy Hudson by exper. & enrold Huldah French also rec'd by experience - Joseph Cate, Thomas Cate, J. C. Newman (p.141) Rebecca Cate, Mary Newman, Pheby Moore, Dorothy Carter, Elizabeth Lile & enrold Shadrach Manard & his wife Elizabeth and Rec'd Eli Hudson & Sarah Hudson & Rachel Ballard, Mary Rollens, Lucy Pilett experence & enrold Susannah Alderson - Also Rec'd Millia C. Henry by experience - E. Cate - Clk. November 6th 1840 - According to appointment the Church met & after divine Sevice proceeded to business - 1st. - the Church agrees to look out from among themselves some two or three suitable persons for deacons against next meeting - 2nd. - Rec'd Rachel N. Bryan by experience & on the 7th - Bro. John Sellers & wife requested letters of Dismission & granted. E. Cate - Clk. December 5th 1840 - The Church met & after Worship proceeded to business - 1st. - took up the reference of last meeting concerning the choice of deacons and after some investigation & several nominations being made the Church agrees to concider of it till next meeting - 2nd. - Br. W. Langston requested a letter of dismission and granted. Elisha Cate - Clk. January 1841 - The Church met - owing to the enclemency of the the wether but few attended & after Worship proceeded to appoint (p.142) Rev James Langford, Elisha Cate, Michael Cate, John Douglass & H. V. Hoozer a comitty to nominate or set before the Church some suitable persons for deacons & a majority of them to Act - Elisha Cate - Clk. February 6th 1841 - We, the Church committee met and after some concideration do recommend to the Church Thomas Bryan - Thomas Cate, Charles Elder & J. C. Newman persons for deacons, Jas. Langford, Elisha Cate, Michael Cate, John Douglass, H. V. Hoozer - and on the same day after divine Service the Church met in Conference and received the report of the Comitty & the Committee discharged - 2nd. - agreed to have our Sacrament to commence on Fryday before the 5th Saturday in May next - 3rd. - Agreed that the above named Brs. Viz. Thomas Bryan, Thomas Cate, Charles Elder & J. C. Newman be ordained to the offices of deacon at our Sacramental meeting & also to call Elears Rogers, Elijah C. Tipton, L. Jones, Wm. Cate & Duke Kimbrough together - our paster to be our presbyter to perform the work. E. Cate - Clk. (p.143) March 6th 1841 - The Church met & after divine Service proceeded to business - 1st. - a charge taken up against Lucy Pilett for theft and the Church being satisfied as to the truth of the charge proceeded to exclude her from the fellowship of the Church - E. Cate - Clk. April 3rd 1841 - The Church met & after divine Service proceeded to business - 1st. - Rec'd Elizabeth Quales by experience - E. Cate - Clk. May 1st 1841 - The Church met and after divine Service proceeded to business - 1st. - our pastor being absent chose Rev. Wm. Cate Moderator - E. Cate - Clk. May 28th 1841 - The Church met according to appointment on fryday - it being our Sacramental meeting - no business & dismissed till tomorrow 10 O'clock - 29th - The Church met according o adjournment & after divine Service proceeded to the ordination of Br. Thomas Bryan, Charles Elder, Thomas Cate & J. C. Newman to the office of deacons - done at the hands of Rev. Jas. Langford, C. Tipton, John Lockhert & Wm. Cate the presbyter present - 2nd. - Rec'd Parnel Bales by letter & John P. Bryan by experience. E. Cate - Clk. July 3rd 1841 - The Church met & after divine Service proceeded to business - 1st. - Rec'd Manda Hudson by experience - 2nd. - appointed Brn. Thos. Cate - Sam Langston - Wm. R. Underwood as our (p.144) Deligates to the next Convention to be held with Church of Mount Ollives, Knox Co., Tennessee. E. Cate - Clk. July 31st 1841 - The Church at Dumplin Creek met and proceeded to business - 1st. - the letter to the Convention read & received - 2nd. - Agreed to hold our protracted meeting in October Nex concerning fryday before the 3rd. Saturday & invite our Ministering borthers Viz. E. Milliken, Jas. Cannon, Wm. Billew, Wm. Burnett, Jas. Rah, John Cannon & Charles Lewis - 3rd. - Appointed Br. J. C. Newman, Michael Cate & A. W. Bryan deligates to our next Association to be held with the Church at the mouth of Richland and the Clerk prepare the letter and put in a petition for the next Association. E. Cate - Clk. September 1841 - The Church met & after divine Service proceeded to business - 1st. - the Church agrees to cover one side of the meeting house and the following Brn. Agree to furnish 4000 shingles - Viz. N. Cate 1000, Thos. Bryan 1000, C. Elder 1000, Jessese Langston 500 & John Douglas 500. E. Cate - Clk. October 10th 1841 - The Church met & after Service took
a charge against Sister Rachel Ballard for having an illegitimate child, (p.145) and
the Church being satisfied as to the truth of the charge proceeded to
exclude her from fellowship of the Church - on Sunday morning after prayer

Samuel Love - 2nd. - According to previous arrangement the Church Clerk brought up a short history of the Church which was read & received and ordered to be sent to Rev. R. B. C. Howell of Nashville for publication - 3rd. - appointed Br. M. Cate & Charles Elder to cite Elizabeth Quales to attend our next meeting to answer some allegations of an immoral nature. E. Cate - Clk. April 2nd 1842 - The Church met and after divine Service opened a door for the reception of members - none offered and took up the reference concerning Elizabeth Quales and the Church excludes her from the fellowship of the Church for theft and other immoral conduct - E. July 2nd 1842 - The Church me and after divine Service proceeded to business - 1st. - Chose Bro. Charles Elder, John Douglass, A. W. Bryan deligates to the next Convention to be held with Church at Bethel North. E. Cate - Clk. (p.147) August 6th 1842 - The Church met and after divine Service proceeded to business - 1st. - Chose R. H. Newman & Calvin Hodges deligats to our next Association to be held with the Church at Cedar Grove, Blount County, Tennessee. E. Cate - Clk. September 3rd 1842 - The Church met & after divine Service proceeded to business - 1st. - Rec'd by letter to the Association - 2nd. - Rec'd Mary Scarlett by recantation and granted her a letter of Dismission - E. Cate - Clk. October 1st 1842 - The Church met but nothing done. E. Cate - Clk. October 14th 1842 - A Camp meeting commenced & continued till Monday week following & during the meeting Rec'd thirty five members Viz. Andrew Morgan & Anna Henry by letter & rec'd by Expr.
