January 2nd 1858 - The Church met & after divine Service proceded to business - 1st. - Chose M. Cate - Moderator - 2nd. - the treasury made his report which was received - 3rd. - Appointed Thos. C. Bryan teasury - 4th. - N. N. Cate, John M. Elder & Thos. C. Bryan Trustees for the Church and continued Br. J. Drinen housekeeper for this year provided he will accept of it. E. Cate - C. Clk.

February 6th 1858 - The Church met and after divine Service by Elder Cate - as our pastor was absent again Br. J. Drinnen was present and agreed to be housekeeper this year for the same that he got last year. E. Cate - C. Clk.

March 6th 1858 - The Church met and after divine Service proceded to business - 1st. - Rec'd Asa Layman & Margaret Layman by letter. E. Cate - C. Clk.

April 3rd 1858 - The Church met and after divine Service appointed our next meeting for Sacriment and called Elders N. Carum and C. C. Tipton to attend said meeting. E. Cate - C. Clk.

May 1st 1858 - the Church met and after divine Service no business - was dismissed - On Sunday Rec'd buy baptism Simon B. Douglass, Sam H. Douglass, Malice E. Jones and Rebecca K. Douglass. E. Cate - C. Clk.

June 5th 1858 - The Church met and after divine Service proceded to business - 1st. - took up a charge against Lucinday Bailey - Alies Gass for breach of Covinent ie: for leaving the Church and joining the M.E. Society - P.S. Sunday received by letter Thomas Langston & Malissa Langston. E. C. - C. Clk.

July 1858 - The Church met & no business - E. Cate - Clk.

August 7th 1858 - The Church met & after divine Service opened the door for the reception of members and received Granville Newman and his wife Barsheba by letter - 2nd. - There was another call for funds towars building the new Church house, whereupon the members raised their subscriptions to about one hundred dollars also resolved by the Church the building Committee go on and have the house finished and she would be bound for the balance that it will take to finish it. September 4th 1858 - The Church met and after divine Service proceeded to business - 1st. - Appointed M. Cate, J. Drinnen & W. R. Elder deligates to the Tennessee Association to be at Blount County Tenn. commencing fryday before the 1st Saturday of Oct. next - 2nd. - Appointed Thos. Cate and R. R. Bryan as our delligates to the General (p.218) Association to be held with the Church at Jonesborough Tenn. ommencing fryday before the second Saturday of Oct. next - 3rd. - Appointed our Camp meeting to commence on the 3rd. Saturday of Oct. next and send for Elders J. Manning and N. Caram to help hold sd. Meeting. E. Cate - C. Clk.

October 16th 1858 - The Church met and after divine Service opened the door for the reception of members and received A. J. Cate by letter and R. M. Henderson by enrolment and the meeting was protracted 11 days and during the meeting Received by baptism Mary J. Newman, Martha Hancock, Cely Manard, L. C. Byas, Anna Kite, John Lysle, Peter Pollard, John Campbell and Leonard Carmichael Sr. again by letter, Susan Lyle, Wm. H. Drinnen and Sarah Henderson and Nancy J. Pollard by enrolment and restored Robert Sasseen. E. Cate - C. Clk.

December 4th 1858 - The Church met and after divine Service proceded to business - 1st. - Sarah A. Wheelock requested a letter of dismission & granted. E. Cate - C. Clk.

January 1st 1859 - After divine Service proceded to business - 1st. - Rec'd Mary M. Newman by letter and was dismissed. E. Cate - Clk.

February 4th 1859 - The Church met & after divine prayer proceded to business - 1st. - Jane, Rebecca, Margaret & Nancy Naugher requested letters of dismission & granted - 2nd. - there was some considerable chat and propositions about means to finish paying for the building of the new Church, finally resolved that the Committee borrow one hundred dollars on twelve months time and she would pay for it and was dismissed. March 5th 1859 - The Church met and after divine Service appointed our May meeting for our Sacramental meeting and was dismissed. E. Cate - Church Clk.

April 1859 - Owing to the enclemency of the wether the Church failed to attend. E. Cate - Church Clk.

May 7th 1859 - The Church met and after divine Service proceeded to buisness nothing done and dismissed on Monday - Rec'd John W. Nelson and Margaret Nelson by letter. E. Cate - C. Clk.

June 4th 1859 - The Church met and after divine Service opened the door for the reception of members and received Mary Miles and Nancy Miles by letter. E. Cate - Ch. Clk.

July 2nd 1859 - The Church met and after divine Service opened the door for the reception of members and rec'd J. S. Brown and his wife Martha Brown. E. Cates - C. Clk.

August 6th 1859 - The Church met and after divine Service proceeded to business - 1st. - At the request of John Drinnon took up a charge against Nancy Drinnon - Alicas Stradley for fornication and excluded her from her fellowship - 2nd. - Nancy Parker requested letters of Dismission and granted - 5th - Ordered by the Church that the Clerk bring up the Church Book to next meeting to see who belongs &c.

October 15th 1859 - The Church met & after devine Service proceeded to business - 1st. - none joined - the reference called and indefinitely laid over on account of this being the time of our Camp meeting - 2nd. - Ryfus M/Henderson and his wife Sarah requested letters of Dismission and granted - 3rd. - Received by baptism - Martha Laning, Havey J. Baly, Mary Bailes, Ephraim Henry, Michael Mount, Margaret Mount, Martha Mount, Mary E. Mount, Harriet M. Mount & rec'd John Piate and wife by letter - thus ended the Camp meeting. E. Cate - Clk.

November 5th 1859 - the Church met & after Divine Service by Elder M. Cate - no other business only on Saturday there was added to the Church by Baptism - Viz. - Thomas J. Mount, R. F. Hickman, Joseph Robertson, Shad. French, Jas. B. French, Robert Smith, Eliza Aslinger, Manervy J. Bailes & John Scarlett. E. Cates - C. Clk.

December 3rd 1859 - The Church met and after divine Service proceeded to business - 1st. - as it is our custom - none joined - the reference called for and in compliance with the order of the Church made at Sept. meeting directing the Clk. to bring up the Church book to have the names of the members red over in order to look into the morel condition of the Church & laid over - 2nd. - A. J. Franklin requested a letter of dismission and granted - 3rd. - John Miller & wife Susannah by a friend called for letters of Dismission and it was granted to Susan Miller (p.231) and the granting of J. W. Miller a letter of Dismission was suspended on account of some reports of immorality aledged against him as well as his misterous absence - whereupon the Church appoints Br. Thos. G. Douglass, John Drinen & Wm. French a Committee of inquiry and to make report to the Church at our next meeting. E. Cate - Clk.

January 7th 1860 - The Church met and after divine Service proceded to business - 1st. - received the report of the Committee in regard to Br. John W. Miller and the Committee discharged - 2nd. - Upon the report of the Church took up a charge against the sd. J. W. Miller for Blasphemy and it appearing that he was a habitual swearer, therefore the Church excludes him form his fellowship - the reading of the names laid over till next meeting. E. February 4th 1860 - The Church met and after divine Service proceded to business - 1st. - As our pastor was absent Chose Elder M. Cate Moderator - 2nd. - Proceded to call or read over the names of the members belonging to the Church and noticed some offenders and many delinquents and the day being fair spent the Clk. Offered the following resolution - Resolved that it be laid over till next meeting and take them up in rotation of otherwise as the Church may see fit. E. Cate - C. Clk.

March 5th 1860 - The Church met and on account of the County elections - no business done. E. Cate - C. Clk.

April 7th 1860 - The Church met and after divine Service proceded to business - 1st. - Opened a door for the reception of members - none offered - Then took up the reference of February meeting & proceded in regular order - 1st. - Excluded John Alderson for mooving to the Mts. And remaining there two or three years without calling for a letter of Dismission - Also excudes John Brown for the same offense - 2nd. - Angeline Brown having been absent for a long time but being informed that she was in reach of the Church passed hereover & appointed John Newman to enquire after her and report to next meeting - In the case of Robert Bailes he went off but sent back for a letter of dismission and has been neglected so the Church ordered that a letter of Dismission be granted. Thomas Ledwell was excluded from the fellowship of the Church on a charge of Drunkeness and profanity - 4th. - Robt. M. Lowery was excluded from the fellowship of the Church for goying off and neglecting Church meeting for a long time and not lifting a letter of Dismission - In the case of Maryan S. Lowery & James Lowery - Bro. Wm. French & Porter Newman was appointed to enquire into their conduct and their whereabouts and report at the next meeting. (p.233) Andrew Langford case was laid over till next meeting and appointed R. R. Bryan, M. Cate & Thos. Bryan to converse with him and report at the next meeting.
Lee Miller was excluded from the fellowship of the Church on a charge of profanity - 5th. - William Thomas was excluded from the fellowship of the Church for mooving off without lifting a letter of dismission and neglecting meeting &c. The case of Hugh & Harvy Thomas was laid over till next meeting and appointed Wm. French & Ahaz Newman a Committee to enquire into his conduct to next meeting - 6th. - Adaline Tipet was excluded from the fellowship of the Church for joining the Methodist E. Society - The case of Gemima Manard she went off without a letter of dismission but had been neglected - therefore the Church ordered that a letter of dismission be granted. E. Cate - Ch. Clk.

May 5th 1860 - the Church met & after divine Service proceded to business - opened the door for the reception of new members - none offered - 2nd. - the Minitsof last meeting was read and approved. -3rd. - In the case of Angaline Brown Br. John Newman who was appointed at last meeting to enquire after her reports that he saw her and she said she was sorry she could not attend Church no better but wished to continue her membership for awhile at least she would try & come &c. (p.234) and the Church continue her in full fellowship - 4th. - The case of Maryan S. Lowery & James Lowery was laid over till next meeting - 5th. - In the case of Andrew Langford he expresses a wish that his name be erased from the Church Book and his name with the request was brought before the Church at last meeting, wherefore the Church appointed a Committee of three members to converse with him and two of the said Committee made a report and the report was received and the Committee discharged. It appears from the report of the above Committee the said Andrew Langford had conciencious Scruples in regard to his never having received a change of hart - Therefore the Church excludes him from her fellowship for that cause and no other - Took up the case of Hugh H. Thomas who was charged with drinking Ardent Spirits to an access & the Committee who was appointed at last meeting to enquire into his conduct failed to do it - Brother Newman had a conversation with him and he denied not the charge but acknowledged it in as much as he said he would drink his dram when he pleased - Therefore the Church excludes him.
Thomas Reneau was excluded for neglecting Church meeting for a long time - E. Cate - Clk.

June 2nd 1860 - The Church met & after divine Service proceded to business - 1st. - Open the door for the reception of members - none offered - 2nd. - the Minutes of last meeting read and approved - 3rd. - Excluded Maryan S. Lowery and James Lowery for neglecting Church meeting & not repsonding to the call of the Church when sent for - 4th. - Appointe Brs. Thos. G. Douglass and John Drinnon as a Committee to see Lemual Carmichael Jr. and Porter Carmichael & to inquire into some reports on them of an immoral nature - 5th. - Br. Peter Pollard and his wife Sister Nancy Jane Pollard requested letters of Dismission and granted. E. Cate - Clk.

July 7th 1860 - The Church met and after divine Service proceeded to open a door of priviledge for persons to join the Church and none rec'd - 1st. - The Minutes of last meeting read and adopted - 2nd. - took up the referenceof last meeting concerning Brs. Lemual Carmichael Jr. & Porter Carmichael and it appeared that the Committee was not ready to report fully & for some cause Br. J. D. Drinnon wished to be excused or released and as the two brethren was present it was resolved (p.236) by the Church that the Committee be discharged - 3rd. - As the reports against them was profanity and the sd. Lemual Carmichael Jr. was permitted to speak for himself and after some investigation he denied the report and said you, meaning the Church could not lay your hands on any person that had hered him take his Maker's name in vain - Since the year 1836 & laid it over till next meeting for trial. - 4th. - Appointed Br. Thos. G. Douglass, Robert Sasseen & W. H. Drinnon a Committee to bring before the Church at next meeting - All the testimony they could git in the case. - 5th. - Resolved by the Church that Brother Porter Carmichael case be laid over till next meeting and the above named Committee bring up the evidence if any against him also - 6th. - According to a promised arrangement our pastor red in the Church Articles of Faith to be observed by the Church at Dumplin which was refered to the following Committee - Viz. - R. R. Bryan, John Drinnon, Charles Elder, M. Cate & E. Cate & to report next meeting - 7th. - Also presented a Church Covinent which was read and adopted - 8th. - Again rules of decorum read & adopted in lieu of the ones we had.

August 4th 1860 - The Church met and after divine Service opened a door of privilege for persons to join and none rec'd - 1st. - as our Pastor was absent Chose Elder M. Cate Moderator - 2nd. - The Minutes of last meeting was read & adopted. - 3rd. - The cases of the Carmichael's laid over till next meeting - 4th. - The Committee on the Articles of Faith have till next meeting to make their Report - 5th. - Resolved that the Committee on the Carmichael's cases be continued till next meeting. E. Cate - Ch. Clk.

September 2nd 1860 - The Church met & after divine Service opened a door for the reception of members & rec'd Samuel L. Underwood, Parnel Bailes & Martha Bailes by letter & Thomas L. Lunceford and his wife Martha A. Lunceford by Baptism - 2nd. - the report of the Committee on the Articles of Faith rec'd and the Committee discharged - 3rd. - The Articles of Faith was read & adopted - 4th. - The report of the Committee as regards the case of Lemuel Carmichael's case was discharged - 5th. - Took up a charge against Br. L. Carmichael Jr. For profanity & for some unbecoming language to his father - whereupon the testimony was hered in the case and it was decided by the Church that the charges was sustained and as a matter of course he was excluded (p.238) from the fellowship of the Church for the same. - 5th. - Br. Porter Carmichael's case was laid over till next metting in Corse - 6th. - Sister Elizabeth J. Alderson - Alis Hatcher requested a letter of dismission and granted - 7th. - Appointed Brs. M. Cate, T. C. Bryan & D. L. Jones our deligates to the Tennessee Association to be held at Beaver Dam Chruch, Knox County, Tennessee - 8th. - Appoints Brs. Thos. Bryan, R. R. Bryan, T. G. Douglass & M. Cate our deligates to the General Association to be held at the Church at New Market - 9th. - Catharine Anderson requested a letter of Dismission & granted - 10th. - Appointed our next Camp meeting to convene on the 2nd Saturday in October next and our meeting in Corse passed by on the account of the Tennessee Association convening on the same time.
