January 10th 1807 -- the Church met it being in Course -- 1st. Sister Sarah Cate and Sister Rebecah Elder Requested letters of Dismisson and granted. 2nd. Rec'd Sister Lucy Laurance. February 14th 1807 -- the Church met it being meeting in Course -- 1st. Br. & Sister Jessa Manard & Martha his wife rec'd by letters. March 14th 1807 -- the Church met it being in Course -- 1st. Chose Br. John Cate Sen. our Moderator. April 10th 1807 -- the Church met it being meeting in Course. 1st. Rec'd Br. James Manard by letter. May the 9th 1807 -- the Church met it being in Corse -- 1st. appointed Brethren John Russell and John Cate Jr. to cite Sister Reminton to attend our next meeting -- 2nd. Sacrament appointed our next meeting. June 12th 1807 -- the Church met it being meeting in Course -- 1st. Sister Reminton came forward and told her reason for not attendaing meeting which the Church rec'd for their satisfaction. (p.30) July 11th 1807 -- the Church met it being meeting in Corse, having nothing come before them after worship dismissed. August 8th 1807 -- the Church met it being in Corse -- 1st. Received Br. James Gipson and Sarah Gipson his wife by letter -- 2nd. Appointed Bro. John Cate, Humphrey Mount & Maynard Colley Deligates to our next Association -- 3rd. Appointed Bros. Thos. Jones & Maynard Colley to go to French Broad Church to enquire what was the course there refusing our members there a seat in their Church or there meeting. September 12th 1807 -- the Church met it being in Corse -- 1st. Br. Colley came forward and made Report that he had went to French Broad Church and she acknowledged her wrong which our Church Rec'd for their satisfaction -- 2nd Rec'd Br. Joseph Sullins and sister Mary Sullins his wife by letter -- 3rd. Rec'd Sister Delite Manard by letter -- 4 -- the two sister Grissoms and old Sister Barnes and Sister Nancy Barnes Requested letters of dismission and granted to the numbers up to this date -- Received & dismissed members is estimated. October 1807 - In October the meeting in Corse on Saturday fell through But on Sunday the Church granted Br. Jess Manard & his wife letters of dismission. November 14th 1807 -- the Church met it being in Corse -- 1st. Br. Maynard Colley Requested letters of dismission for himself and his wife and his daughter and was granted -- Daley Chambers granted a letter of dismission -- 3rd. Br. James Gipson apointed to talk with Br. & Sister Absolem Garret to know the reason of their going away out of the bounds of our church without letters of Dismission. (p.31) December the 12th 1807 -- Church met it being meeting in Corse 1st. Br. John Cate Sen. Brout in an alligation that Br. James Manard for his hard censure against Br. John Cate & taken up against Br. Manard -- 2nd. Br. Gipson still continued our deligate to site Br. & Sister Absolem Garret to attend our next meeting in Corse. 3rd. Br. James Gipson Requested a letter of dismission for himself and his wife & granted. January the 9th 1808 -- the Church met it being meeting in Corse -- 1st. Br. Gipson not present the matter concerning Br. Garret let lye -- 2nd. Sister Marget Grissom gave up her letter that she Received -- 3rd. Rec'd Br. Moses & Sister Elizabeth Hull by letter. February 13th 1808 -- the Church met it being meeting in Corse -- 1st. the matter concerning Br. and Sister Garret laid over till next meeting -- they not being present. 2nd. Rec'd by letter an acknowledgement from Br. James Manard which the Church receives for their satisfaction and grants him a letter of dismission, Agreeable to his Request. March the 12th 1808 -- the Church met it being in Corse. April 8th 1808 -- the Church met it being meeting in Course -- 1st. Considered the matter concerning Br. & Sister Absolem Garret and wife the matter Laid till next meeting in Corse. 2nd. Sister Ann Carmon under our watchcare -- Rec'd Sister Rebecah Elder by letter. May 14th 1808 -- the Church met it being in Corse -- 1st. Absolem Garret & wife Ellender is excommunicated from our fellowship for moveing out of the bounds of our Church without letters and for neglecting to attend Church meeting where they lived so near and never attended for letters of dismission -- Sister Marget Barnes gave up the letter she received -- 3rd Rec'd Br. Daniel Hull by Experiance -- 4th -- the Minutes of the of the Association Read and approved. (p.32) June 11th 1808 -- the Church met it being in Corse. July 11th 1808 -- the Church met it being in Corse -- 1st. the two Brs. Hull & Br. Blake petitioned for an Arm up at Br. Daniel Hull's or some other place in the settlement where it may be that most convenient -- 2nd. as our Church appears to be greaved with our French Broad for Receiving Sally Witt without her giving satisfaction to us whence the greavance first arose we have chosen and Brs. Daniel Hull, Moses Hull and Humphrey Mount with full power of this Church to see if they can gain satisfaction of French Broad or act with French Broad Church in adopting such measures as they think best. August 13th 1808 -- the Church met it being meeting in Corse -- 1st. the two Brs. Hull's came forward and made report that they had received satisfaction from French Broad Church which our Church Rec'd for their satisfaction. 2nd -- granted an Arm according to the Request of the two Br. Hull's and the time of holding Church meetings is to be on the first Saturday in Every Month. September the 10th 1808 -- the Church met it being meeting Corse -- 1st. Rec'd Bro. Shadrach Preait by letter -- 2nd -- the Return from the Arm of this Church there act not fully Rec'd by the body till she deligates members and sends to look into the stand of that Church people. Deligates appointed and their names taken towit -- Isaac Newman, John Cate, Wm. Cate, Humphrey Mount, Thomas Jones, (p.33) J. Russell and Peter Lorance is to set at Bro. Daniel Hull's -- the time appointed for meeting at that place -- 4th Wm. Cate, Humphrey Mount and John Cate our deligates to the next Association. October 8th 1808 -- the Church met it being meeting in Corse -- 1st. a report from the Arm at Br. Hull's from our deligates the consequence appears hopeful and we still continue to send members to set with the Arm at Bro. Hull's there next meeting in Corse -- Wm. Cate, Humphrey Mount & John Cate. November the 12th 1808 -- the Church did not meet. December the 10th 1808 -- the Church met it being meeting in Corse. 1st. Brethren appointed to attend Br. Hull's on the 1st. Saturday in January next in order to set in a Church way to do the Business of the Church -- 2nd. the names of the Brethren that is appointed Thomas Jones, Joshua Newman, Humphrey Mount, Isaac Newman Sr. and Peter Lorance -- 3rd. An allegation taken up against Sister Nancy Barns for being with child & not being married -- 4 -- and Br. Isaac Newman and John Cate is appointed to further labour with Sister Nancy Barns -- 5th -- Sister Nancy Barns give up the leter she rec'd -- 6th -- Br. John Russell and his wife granted a letter of dismission -- 7th -- Br. John Routh granted a letter of dismission. January 14th 1809 -- the Church met - 1st. the Bro. that was appointed to labor with Sister Nancy Barns makes Report -- no satisfaction obtained and now excommunicated from out fellowship -- 2nd -- Brn. Appointed to attend at Br. Daniel Hull's to set as a Church and to have full power or a Church & their names, Humphrey Mount, Thos. Jones, Wm. Cate (p.34) Isaac Newman Sr., John Cate Sr., Peter Lorance, Joshua Newman, John Cate Jr. and Br. Kimbrough Requested to go. February 11th 1809 -- the Church met it being in Corse. 1st. the Return of the Brn. that was appointed to set in a Church way at Br. Daniel Hull and they make report that they have established an Arm at Br. Daniel Hull's & at the Request of the Church Br. Kimbrough agreed to attend that Arm Monthly at the time before appointed and the names of the members in the Bounds of the Arm taken. 1st. Brs. Lockhart & Daniel Hull 3- Wilaby Blake -- 4- Moses Hull -- 5- and his wife Elizabeth Hull. March the 11th 1809 -- the Church met it being in Corse -- 1st. the Church Rec'd Br. & Sister Charles and Nancy Kelly in our Church fellowship -- 2nd -- the Church appointed Br. John Cate to attend the Arm in order to Request helps to our Sacrament -- 3rd -- Br. Joseph Sullins to attend at Wood's Church to petition helps to our Sacrament. April the 7th 1809 -- the Church met in Corse -- 1st -- Rec'd Sister Anna Carmon by letter -- 2nd -- the Minutes of the Association Read and approved. May 13th 1809 -- the Church met in Corse -- 1st. -- Bro. Humphrey Mount and John Cate Jr. appointed to attend the Meeting house the first Saturday in June next -- 2nd -- Rec'd Br. John Cate Sen. upon acknowledging to Drop the old debate for which he was excluded -- 3rd. Receive Sister Elizabeth Collison by Experiance. June 10th 1809 -- the Church met in Corse -- 1st. a Report taken up against Br. John Lennon for Drinking too much Spirits - (p.35) 2nd -- Brethren Joseph Sullins and Joshua Newman appointed to Cite Br. John Lanning to our next meeting in Corse. July 8th 1809 - The Church met in Corse - 1st. the two brethren that was appointed to cite Br. John Laning to attend our next meeting has made Report that Br. Laning said it was very uncertain whether he would attend or not - 2nd. the Church agree to wait with Br. Laning till our next meeting in Corse - 3rd. Bro. John Cate and Charles Kelly is appointed to cite Br. Laning to attend our next meeting in Corse. 4th - Sister Lucy Jones Requested and granted a letter of Dismission. - 5th - the names of Deligates that is appointed to attend our next Association is John Cate Sen., John Lockhert, Isaac Newman, John Cate - 6th - John Cate Jr. Appointed. September 9th 1809 - the Church of Christ met & after Divine Service proceeded to business -1- Bro. John Lockhert chosen Moderator - 2nd. Bro. John Laning came forward & acknowledged that he was sorry for his conduct But not being satisfied with himself the matter stands as it was. (p.36) 3rd. The next Church meeting appointed the first Saturday in the month. 4th - Bro. Shadrick Pruit appointed to cite Sister Rimminton to attend our next meeting to give her reason for not attending meeting. 5th - Ecommunicated Rachel Forbush & Prudence Forbush from fellowship for going away in disorder & not requesting a letter of dismission - 6th - Our next Communion appointed at he November Meeting. September the thirtyeth 1809 - the Church met it being by appointement. 1st Sister Reminton attended and gave the Church satifaction - 2nd. Bro. John Lanning not attending the case layed over till next meeting. 3rd. Brother Lockhert granted leave to exercise a Gist in the bounds of this Church as the Lord may lay upon him. Friday November the 10th 1809 - The Church met & after divine Service proceeded to the Business of the Church. 1 - After Long waiting and Labour with John Laning the Chruch unanimously agrees to Exclude him from their fellowship for the above named crimes and not hearing the Church. Saturday the 11th of November 1809 - 2nd. Rec'd Brother Jacob Elder by Experience - 3rd. Rec'd Sister Mary Cate by letter. (p.37) December 9th 1809 - The Church met after divine Service & proceeded to business. 1 - The Church all being in fellowship adjourns till the next meeting in Course. |
