February the 13th 1813 - Meeting in Course - they did not meet But on Sunday Sister Marget Rimminton Requested and granted a letter of dismission. March the 13th 1813 - the Church met it Being meeting in Course. - first the matter concerning Prisillah Tharp taken up and she not Received - 2 - the Matter concerning Br. John Hickman Taken up and the Breathren Charles Kelly and Joshua Newman Reported that tha cited Br. Hickman Did not attend and he is Excommunicated from This Church for not hearing the Church and on his own Confession of immoral Conduct. (p.46) 3 - Rec'd Br. Willis Hammons By Letter - 4 - Rec'd Sister Caty Davis By Letter - 5 - Sister Nancy Richards Requested & granted a Letter of dismission to distress taken up against Br. John Cate Jr. Laid over till next meeting in Course. 7 - Minutes of the Association Read and Approved of - 8 - Sister Rebekah Richards Rec'd By Experance. Aprile the 10th 1813 - Church met it Being meeting In Course. - 1 - proceeded to choose Br. Joshua Newman Clerk. 2 - Br. John Cate Laid under Censure for Drinking too much Liquer and keeping frollicas Company also appointed Br. Kimbrough & Charles Kelly to cite him to our next meeting in Course. 3 - Br. Thomas Jones appointed By private Ballard Deacon of this Church. 4 - a door was opened to Receive Experiance and John Richards came forward was Received - 5 - Appointed our next meeting in Course in May our Communion Season. May the 7th 1813 - the Church met & proceeded to Be our choice for a deacon and the time appointed (p.47) For ordination is our meeting in Course in July also Br. Kimbrough & Br. Wood called to the said work -2 - Br. Willis Hammons & Br. Charles Kelly our Deligates to the Union meeting in Miller's Cove in Blount County the Friday before the 2nd. Saturday in June - 3 - the matter against Br. John Cate Taken up and after much Labour is under Necessity of Excommunication of John Cate from our fellowship 4 - A door was opened to Receive members & Sister Easter Widner was Received By Letter - 5 - Also Nancy Richards gave a Relation of hir Experiance and was received - 6 - Also Nancy Elder gave a Relation of hir Experiance and was Received. 7 - Also John Elder gave a relation of his Experiance and was received. 8 - also Nancy Cate gave a relation of her Experiance and was Received. 9 - Church appeared to be unanimous in calling Brother Joseph Sullins for their deacon. June 12th 1813 - the Church met and proceed to Bizness 1 - Chose Br. Leath for a Moderator. Br. Kimbro Being absent. July 10th 1813 - the second Saturday the Church of (p.48) Christ met after worship proceeded to the affaris of the Church. 1 - Proceeded to Examine Brethren Joseph Sullins and Thomas Jones for the offis of deacon - Br. Sullins Begd that he might have longer time to Study on the matter. It was granted. Br. Jones Rec'd and was ordained Submitting to the call of the Church. 2nd - Rec'd by letter Sister Sally Witt Senor and Sister Sally Witt with Jr. - 3 - Rec'd by Experiance Sally Elder - 1 - Betsey Ferrel - 2 - Wm. Cate - Negro woman Sarah - 3 - Robert Elder - 4 - Marget Crocket - 5 - Elizabeth Kimbro - 6 - and Wm. Elder - 7 - Wm. Ellis. August 15th 1813 - the Church met and proceeded to Buisness - 1 - Rec'd a letter of Recommendation of Br. Samuel Miller and Sister Sally whereas they requested Letters of dismission and their Requests granted - 2 - Appointed Br. Isaac Newman and Br. John Elder and Br. William Elder as deligates to our next Association - 3 - a dore was opened for Experiance and Br. Jeremiah Lorance came forward and was Received. September 11th 1813 - the Church met and proceided To Bisness 1 - took up a distress against Br. Wm. Mount and Sister Elon Mount (p.49) on suspicion of their daughter Being delivered of a base Begotten child privately - 2nd. the Church appoints Br. Charles Kelly and Br. Charles Cate to Request Br. Hill and sister Hill to attend our next meeting in November as witnesses in the above matter - 3 - a door was opened to receive Members - 4 - Br. Wm. Lorance By Experiance - 5 - John Clinkingbeard by Letter - 6 - Susanna Cate By Experiance - 7 - Sarah Lorrance By Experiance - 8 - Rebecah Cate By Experiance - 9 - Rec'd Br. Benj. Neal and his wife Elizabeth By Letter - 10 - Rec'd Neal's (Dube) By Experiance. October the 15th 1813 -- the Church met according To appointment -- 1 A dore was opened to receive Members Sister Betsey Laning was received By Experiance 2 -- Sister Hannah Elder by Letter. December the 11th 1813 -- the Church met it Being meeting in Course, and proceided -- 1 -- to appoint Brethren Joseph Sullins and Charles Kelly to Cite Black (Dick) to attend our next meeting in Course -- 2 -- Brethren Benj. Neal & Thomas Jones to talk with Wm. Weaver's wife to know wheather the Report be true about his having two wives -- 3 -- granted Br. Charles Kelly Liberty to exercise his Ministerial gift in the Bounds of the neighboring Churches. (p.50) Saturday the 8th of January 1814 -- The Church met at Isaac Newman's and after worship proceeded to Business -- 1 -- the Brethren that was appointed to cite Black Dick to attend this meeting they not having the opportunity of seeing him at home -- the Church appoints the same Brethren To cite him to our next meeting in February -- 2 -- The Breathren Neal and Jones Enquiring into the case of Weaver's and no sufficient proof to work upon the Chruch dismissed that Bisness at the preasant. February 12th 1814 -- the Church met it being Meeting in Course -- 1 -- the Brethren Kelley and Sullins That was appointed to cite Black Dick to this meeting -- they cited him to attend and he attended and gave his Excuse -- 2 -- Rec'd Polly Stevenson By Letter -- 3 -- Br. Charles Kelley Requested a letter of dismission -- It was granted -- 4 -- Wm. Mount Requested a Letter of dismission for him and his wife -- it was granted. March 12th 1814 -- it Being meeting in Course -- 1 -- the Church took up the allegation that Br. Lewis Renow Brought forward against Br. James Haggard last meeting and appoints Brethren Neal & Lockhert to cite him to our next meeting in Course -- on Sunday Brother James Haggard came (p.51) forward and acknowledged he had done wrong in using Rash and unbecoming Language to Br. Lewis Renoe and the Church received his acknowledgment for Their Satisfaction and Relivs the Brethren above named from citing him to attend next meeting. Aprile the 9th 1814 -- the Church met it Being meeting in Course 1 -- Br. John Cate Senr. Brought an allegation against Br. Wm. Mount for saying that he was the instigation of Breaking a bargain which he asserts that he is clear of -- 2 -- appoints meeting on Tuesday 19th -- of this instant in order to Bring the Breathring to Union also appointed Breathren Kimbrough, Robert Elder, John Elder and Joseph Sullins as a Committee to Look into the matter and Labour to Bring the Breathren to Union. Aprile the 19th 1814 - the Church met according to appointment and the Committee that was appointed could not prove anything against Brother Mount Worthy of dealing -- the Church agrees to Lift the charge and the said members Br. John Cate Sr. and Wm. Mount stands as they was. May the 12th 1814 -- the Church met it Being Sacrament -- 1- Appointed Joseph Sullins and Charles Cate to attend the Union meeting in Sevearville Being give the Friday before the second Saturday in June. (p.52) June the 18th 1814 -- the Church met and after Divine Worship proceided to Business -- 1 -- the matter Between Br. John Cate and Br. Humphrey Mount taken up which is a contradiction Between them and is laid over untill the next meeting in Course. July 9th 1814 -- the Church met it Being meeting in Course -- 1 Rec'd Sister Nancy Richards by Letter -- 2 -- the matter Beween Br. John Cate & Humphrey Mount Laid over till our next meeting -- Br. Cate Being preasant -- 3 -- Sister Susanna Mount Being absent from Church In the State of Ohio and of late choosing to make hir place of Residence therefore she requests a letter of dismission and asertain Members of this Church Vis -- Br. Humphrey was informed By Br. Lorance a Citizen of the State of Ohio that hir walk had been orderly and Christian Like since she had been in that settlement and the Church grants her a letter of dismission -- 4 -- The Minutes of the Association Read and approved. August 13th 1814 -- the Church met it being meeting in Course -- 1 -- the Church took up the reference from Last and the Church Rec'd Br. Mount's acknowledgment for their satisfaction. Br. Cate not making Satisfaction to every individual It is laid over till the next meeting in Course. 2nd -- Br. Willis Hammons and Wm. Elder is appointed Deligates to the Association and the Clerk to write the Letter. (p.53) September 10th 1814 -- the Church met it Being meeting in Course -- 1 -- the Church took up the Matter Between Br. Cate and Br. (?) Received Br. Cates acknowledgement for their satisfaction -- 2 -- took up a distress against Sister Sarah Mount she being with child before she was married and she is laid under censure of the Church & Sister Rebecca Cate to Cite her to attend our next meeting in Couse -- 3 -- Granted Letters of Dismission for Br. Joseph Sullins and his wife and Br. John Elder & his wife. November 12th 1814 -- the Church met it Being in Course -- 1 -- took up the Reference from Last meeting concerning Sister Sarah Mount and the Church Received her for their satisfaction -- 2 -- Br. Isaac Spillman Brought forward an allegation against Br. John Richards for not paying the debts according to his promises also appointed Brethren Charles Kelly and John Cate to cite him to attend our next meeting in Course. December the 9th 1814 -- the Church met it Being meeting in Course -- the Church took up the Reference From Last meeting concerning Br. John Richards and he is Laid under censure of the Church. January 14th 1815 -- the Church met it Being meeting in Course -- first took up the Reference from Last Meeting concerning Br. John Richards the matter is Laid over till our meeting in Course (p.54) the Church Enjoins it upon Bro. John Richards to go to Br. Spillman and make acknowledgement & Labour for a Union with him also appoints Br. Charles Kelley & Wm. Ellis to go with him and Report next meeting -- 3 -- the Minutes of the Association Read & approved. February 11th 1815 -- Church met in order, it Being meeting in Course the matter Between Br. Spillman and Br. Richards Laid over By inclemency of weather. March 11th 1815 -- the Church met it Being meeting in Cours -- 1 -- the Church took up the matter of distress -- Br. Spillman and Richards the Breathren that was appointed to Labour with them for a Union Reported that they gained fellowship Between them and Br. Richards is Restored to the Union of the Church -- 2 -- Rec'd Br. Elder by letter -- 2 -- Appointed Br. Wm. & Samuel Elder to cite Black Dick to attend our next meeting in Course to give in his Reason for his nonattendance -- 4 -- the Church agrees to Exclude the name of Wm. Weaver from our number for going off from his family and not attending meeting -- Church meetings. 5 -- Appointed Brn. John Cate and Humphrey Mount to Cite Easter Widner to attend our next meeting in Course. (p.55) April 7th 1815 -- the Church met it Being meeting in Course -- first the Church took up the Reference concerning Black Dick and the members that were appointed to cite him to attend Reports that he gave them a Satisfactory account for not attending, he also promised to attend if it was in his power -- 2 -- the Church took up the Reference concerning Easter Widner, also the Brethren that ware appointed to Cite her to attend gave a satisfactory account that she would attend if it was in hir power. May 13th 1815 -- the Church met it Being meeting in Course -- 1 -- the Church proceeded to appoint Br. John Cate, Samuel Elder and Robert Elder to attend the Union Meeting on Indian Creek beginning the Friday before the 3 -- and Saturday -- 2 -- Appointed Church meeting the third Saturday in June -- 3 -- Rec'd Phebe Elder by Letter. June 17th 1815 -- the Church met it Being meeting by Appointment -- first the Church granted Letters of dismission for Br. Willis Hammons and his wife Ann & Br. Isaac Newman Senr. came forward and acknowledged that he had Done wrong in that he agreed to sell Br. H. Mount twenty acres of Land for the consideration of a twenty acre Land warrant (p.56) and he is not willing to comply with his Bargain and the Church was divided in Regard of his acknowledgement the above matter is Laid over till our next meeting in Course. July 8th 1815 -- the Church met it Being meeting in Course -- first Rec'd Lydia Willson By Letter -- 2 -- the Church took up the Reference from Last meeting concerning Isaac Newman's acknowledgment and it is laid over till next Meeting in Course -- Isaac Newman Being absent. August 12th 1815 -- the Church met it Being meeting in Course -- first the Church took up the Reference from Last meeting concerning the matter Between Br. Isaac Newman and Br. H. Mount and it is laid over till meeting in Nov. 2nd -- and appointed our next meeting the 3rd Saturday in September -- 3- Appointed Br. Thomas Jones, Robert Elder and Wm. Elder and Wm. Elder to attend our next Association -- 4 -- the Church took up a Report concerning Sister Letty Benton Being Big before she was married and appointed Sister Mary Sullins & Sarah Elder to attend our next meeting -- 5 -- Rec'd Br. John Elder and Sister Nancy Elder by Letter. September 1815 -- the Church met it Being meeting in Course -- first took up the Reference (p.57) from Last meeting concerning Sister Letty Benton and she is laid under censure of the Church for Being with child Before she was married -- Second -- Rec'd Br. Joseph Sullins and his wife by Letter -- third appointed in November. October 1815 -- Meeting fell through on Account the Association. November 10th 1815 -- the Church met it Being in Cours -- the matter Betwixt Br. Newman & Br. Mount compromised concerning peace of Land -- the agreement is as follows, if the Rite that Mount has of Seburn is vallued to Be Recovered in Law then Br. Newman is to make compensation to Br. Mount for said Land to Be valued By good farmer said Land to Be valued as woodland -- Second -- the matter concerning Sister Letty Benton taken up and she is excommunicated from the Union of this Church for being with child before she was married and for denying it -- third -- the Church took up a charge against Br. John Clinkingbeard for Laying a Warrant an Improvement of Land & for keeping follicking and gambling Company and Isaac Newman Senr. and Charles Kelley Sen. is appointed to cite him to attend our next meeting in Course. December 1815 -- the Church met it Being meeting in Course -- 1 -- Rec'd Br. John F. Henderson (p.58) By Letter -- 2 -- took up the reference from last meeting concerning Br. John Clinkingbeard and he is excommunicated for Laying a Land warrant and for keeping frollicking & gambling Company -- 3 -- the Church took up a charge against Black Dick for Dancing for a wager and for swaring -- he is laid under the censure and Joseph Sullins & John Elder is appointed to cite him to attend our next meeting in Course. |
